We need the mobile app to stop crashing!  And some of my friends have asked for an Android version as well.

Yes, this is definitely a top priority for us!  We will continue to work on it.  Thanks!

Yes of course!  Would you guys like something akin to the AAO Preferred Practice Patterns integrated in the answer explanations?

For each question, it would be helpful to have a brief "Educational Objective" sentence at the bottom of the answer explanation that summarizes the high yield fact or concept for the question. This is what the UWorld Qbank has for the USMLE Step questions, and would be helpful especially for the very lengthy explanations.

Please for the mobile app, I'd like to be able to see the comments on questions.  Also, I really want an Amazon gift card :)

We are working our mightiest on improving the mobile app.  It is such a P.I.A.

Given the # of respondents thus far on this thread, u have a good chance of getting that Amazon gift card!

Well, I was really searching for a suggestion, cuz OQ is the tops and I surely couldn't do better.  Keep up the good work!  Thanks for everything.

Yo, K.C.... can you upload a Profile photo?  That will get you entered into the Amazon drawing.  Thanks!

Although I agree that some topics are very high yield and necessitate repeat questions, could the duplicates of certain topics be somehow changed or formulated differently? Thanks for setting this up!!

Please add new questions, ideally to reflect the changing composition of the OKAPs. For instance, I felt that the recent exam had more refractive surgery questions and different types of optics questions (i.e. not vergence) than previously. For questions testing a concept covered in BCSC, please consider providing the reference so one could easily review that section.

What specific topics do you think that OphthoQuestions could cover better?

1. Android app - as mentioned
2. Summary educational objective - as mentioned
3. Explore the wrong answers: why are they incorrect and not be best answer?
4. A brief 3-4 line background on the concept being tested. E.g. if a question is testing understanding of corneal layers involved in Fuch's dystrophy (FECD), it'd be nice to have a 3-4 line background on FECD.

I think a distinction for a series of questions that are an echelon above high yield - as in knowledge you’ll use every day to nearly every day as an ophthalmologist, not just the OKAPS/boards. I’m thinking they could be called “essentials”.

Would be extremely helpful for the newest members of the community to get up to speed in their first few months, especially for more independent activities like being on call.

Before my OKAP last year i finished all of my questions in the bank, and i didnt like that i couldnt make new tests from the questions i already answered and mark *high yield*, since that is exactly what you want in the last few days before the test. Well, i found a way to do it, by marking basically all the questions in the bank and than i could choose " make test from marked questions", but i could not choose high yield specifically ..

Otherwise I am very happy with Ophthoquestions.
Thanks

I just used a random number generator to pick the winners of the drawing!

The winners are:  "C.L."  and "J.H."!  Congratulations!

@everyone:  come back for more sweepstakes fun!

Yes!!!!  Thank you guys.  I love random number generators that work in my favor.  I received the gift card in my email, already in my amazon account.  Thanks again, OQ.  Keep up the good work.

What about my gift card? Will nobody sympathize for fear the beard? I never win contests. I couldn’t even win Bingo in elementary school. C’est la vie!

Classic OQ issue has been that certain topics are well-moderated/well-monitored while other topics have questions that have YEARS of comments under the question that have never been addressed.
This really should be rectified.

You are definitely correct.  The hardest part about running this website is trying to moderate >4000 questions that we have.  Trust me:  this isn't worth the time of our moderators in terms of $$$ :-)  Most of them do it for the "joy" of educating residents & fellows.  Thanks for the comment.

The OKAPs is the same set of questions given for all years of residency.  There is no different set of questions given if you are a first year residents versus a second year resident, etc.

remove all "false" and "except" questions.

for each of those old questions, replace with 3 new questions with only positive answers (would require coming up with a few new incorrect answers, preferably not exactly the same for each of the 3 new questions).

remove answer designator (a, b, c, d) and replace with numbers (1, 2, 3, 4) to make it easier to select the answer on a keyboard.

randomize answer order every time a test is generated, but still number them in displayed order (i.e. first answer is always 1 even though different tests may have a different answer listed first).

on review (after answering the question), re-label and sort the answers alphabetically, with letters always associated with the same answer for every user so we can discuss.

allow "correct" questions to be used again when making tests, rather than just new, incorrect, and marked.

add comment up/down vote tracking, and option to highlight/hide comments that reach a user specified positive/negative threshold.

android app.

swipe sideways to navigate to previous/next question.

change images after answer to highlight/mark pathology.

make curated tests for specific pathologies, or create additional subcategories for each section so that associated questions can be reviewed together.

Thanks for the feedback.  Yes, there are many, many things we would like to improve upon.  Thank you.

Of course we would love to make an Android app.  We are still trying to improve the iOS app at this stage.  It's a lot of work!

There is a "Search" button to look up content of questions that you have "Seen" already:

It seems that i regularly find explanations that have been updated (thank you) to include discussion points from the comments make by previous OQ users.
It may be helpful to have a "resolved" section for comments so that some of the comments that are addressed are put in a different category and do not need to be present years later.

Or... we can do a better job deleting them.  Thanks for the feedback!
