A few years ago I visited Lisbon and completely fell in love with the atmosphere there. The food, the music, people talking loudly at cafés — it all felt very lively. Most locals spoke English, but there were many moments when I wished I understood the language better, especially when listening to casual conversations around me. After coming back home I decided to try learning Portuguese, but at first I didn’t know where to begin. I tried watching YouTube lessons and reading grammar explanations, but the information felt scattered and I couldn’t see a clear learning path. Eventually I switched to using an app because it was easier to practice consistently on my phone. The one I use now includes
short Portuguese lessons in the Promova app and that format ended up working really well for my routine. The lessons are divided into small topics like greetings, everyday questions, travel phrases, and basic conversations, which makes the progress feel more natural. What I appreciate most is that the exercises mix listening, speaking, and reading practice instead of focusing only on vocabulary lists. It helps you get used to the sound of the language, which is important with Portuguese because pronunciation can be tricky.
