When we moved into our place

When we moved into our place a few years ago the backyard had this uneven concrete slab that someone clearly poured as a DIY project. It worked for a while but eventually parts started chipping and one side was slightly slanted, so whenever it rained the water would sit there instead of draining away. At first I thought about tearing it out myself, but after watching a couple videos I realized there’s a lot more to it than just pouring cement into a frame. Things like the base layer, proper grading, and reinforcement really matter if you want the surface to last. We eventually decided to hire professionals because we also wanted something that actually looked nice, not just a plain slab. The contractor suggested doing a decorative patio with a pattern finish and it turned out way better than I expected. It also made the whole yard feel more usable for barbecues and small gatherings. I spent a lot of time researching local companies around Beaverton Oregon, and one of the pages that helped me understand what kind of services were available was this one about a concrete contractor in Portland OR. That site gave me a better idea of the kinds of projects contractors usually handle, like driveways, patios, and retaining walls.
